Song That is a Guilty Pleasure
I don't really feel guilty about liking songs because I have such hit-and-miss taste in music. But I was singing this in the shower the other day, and wondering why I knew all the words. Now all of you can learn the lyrics as well.
Chelsey, I had no idea DMB was an accepable way to refer to Dave Mathews Band. I also like this song.
Chuck's pick. Inexcusable.
Kent's patriotic drivel.
Wendy, this entry is like being in a job interview and saying that your biggest weakness is that sometimes you work too hard.
Wendy's redemption. Sort of. I happen to love this song as well.
I have way too many guilty pleasure songs. So I will go with DMB- Satellite
ReplyDeleteLimp Bizkit - Rearrange. I won't try to defend it. It is what it is.
ReplyDeleteI would say Chuck has the longest list of guilty pleasures in my view. I believe he's been to a Limp Bizkit concert FFS. And all those songs would qualify. Although Chelsey has the 311 angle. It's hard to pick. Why can't I think of any for me? Someone help. Maybe Stone Temple Pilots? Or Counting Crows? But I really like those songs...
ReplyDeleteI felt like since I was admitting to liking this "Dave" song I should refer to it in some really cool way.
ReplyDeleteNo one should feel guilty for liking the counting crows...
ReplyDeleteI asked my coworker Erin if she knew what DMB stood for, and she knew it right away. I'm obviously out of the loop.
ReplyDeleteWell the concert was Kid Rock, but not really so much same church as same pew. Also let's not forget that at one point in my life I made an impassioned defense of Milli Vanilli. So yeah, I've had some missteps.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, let me cast some judgments on you two. Runaway Train is a terrible song and you should both be embarrassed. Also Brent, I though you liked some of those crummy post-grunge songs that were popular back in the day.
First of all, Runaway Train is awesome. "Like a madman laughing at the rain"? That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I hope you are not talking shit about "Cumbersome" by Seven Mary Three. Because that song is also awesome.

God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood. I hate hate hate to admit it, but the song makes me cringe and love it.
ReplyDeleteHow about Yellow by Coldplay? That one really hit home with me once I had kids. Count me in on a love for STP too.
ReplyDeleteBrent, I was thinking of that Collective Soul song with the very dramatic video. Kent, great pick. Wendy, I don't think you have to be embarrassed by Yellow. Everyone loves that song.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless the USA used to be that way for me until post-911 patriotism killed it for me. I remember that when I was in like 3rd grade my school had a talent show. And this kid just went up there, dressed like a construction worker, and looked off in the distance while that song was playing behind him. That was the whole act. It was so moving.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Chuck. "Yellow" cannot be a guilty pleasure.
If you can be guilty for liking the Counting Crows (and I am guilty), then you can be guilty for liking Coldplay.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just thought of another. I love the song Sugar, We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy.
ReplyDeleteI made up my own lyrics to it that are just nonsense words, because the actual song is so unintelligible.
Although I believe I have already satisified at least Kent when it comes to this category, I'm ready to take it to the next level: Kindie Rock.
ReplyDeleteVerve Pipe, Be Part of the Band. I love this damn song, and my kids are actually starting to outgrow this junk. But I love it! And there are others I love too. Gulp.
