30 Day Movie Challenge Day 16

Favorite/best (your choice) scene in a movie.

I was thinking about this while I was walking Birdy last night. I considered the Get the Guest scene in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, or the Christopher Walken/Dennis Hopper scene in True Romance but I'm going to go with the scene between Frank and Donnie Darko in the movie theater in Donnie Darko. It breaks my heart every time.

  1. I love tracking shots. If you put an awesome tracking shot in your movie, Kent will love it (unless your movie is Kill Bill). Here are my three favorites:

Soy Cuba: The camera starts on the street, climbs up, goes through the building, and comes out the other side.

Goodfellas: Everyone knows this one. It's good.

Children of Men: I think this one is not a real tracking shot, but instead it has edits, but it's still 6 minutes of tension-filled chaos.

  2. Well this turned out to be hard to find!

Brick tells big daddy about the click.

  3. How on earth did they do the Soy Cuba one? That's incredible!

  4. Now we're getting too specific. My brain doesn't work like that anymore. I just had to stand in front our DVD's and try and remember and still nothing came to me. The car accident scene in Frida is amazing:

The last scene of The Godfather where everyone dies.

  5. Since movies don't really stick with me like they should, I'm going to choose a scene from the last movie I saw. The dachshund scene near the end of Hugo is just lovely. Maybe not the best thing I've ever seen in my life but a lovely scene in a lovely film.
