Song for Edith
Oh my god. We made it to the end. I acually ran out of categories because the person whose 30 Day Music Challenge I was following skipped a day by accident. So I figured this would be a good start for the baby mix that I will no-doubt create when Edith comes along.
Wendy!
Kent!
Chuck - you are on your own. I don't know the names of any of those songs either.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 29
Favorite Song This Time Last Year
This is easy for me. I sometimes feel like Sleigh Bells were created somewhere by people catering to my musical tastes. And this was their crowning achievement.
Chelsey: Well this is a fine video.
Chuck's song. Chuck, it looks like I'm finally going to listen to this song.
Wendy's song. I'm very sorry about stealing Sleigh Bells.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 28
Song From Your Childhood
This is a really dumb way to end this thing. But if we have to do it, this is one of the first things I remember listening to as a kid. This is Gene Vincent. He was like Elvis, except he wasn't cool at all. This explains a lot in retropsect.
Incidentally, here is the song being sung by two way cooler people: Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis.
"Bang bang. Shoot 'em down. The party never ends."
Chuck's take on the uncool music we came to love as kids.
Wendy's! This is a slideshow video. The first slide is exceptional.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 27
Song That Makes You Feel Guity
When Carissa's Wierd said "saying sad things that don't make sense just makes you look like a liar," I knew exactly who they were talking to.
Chuck
Wendy! Sorry - this was the best I could do.
Kent. I've never seen this video before. So dumb!

Song You Wish You Could Play
Something on the piano. Maybe Us Ones In Between by Sunset Rubdown. Here is a nice live version of it.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 25
Song You Can Play On an Instrument
I can (could) only play one song on an instrument. Eric Illarmo, my first friend in college taught me how to play "Losing My Religion" on ukelele. I never really got any good at it.
Chuck's song.
Kent's song. I need to remember this song when I compile my best songs of all time list. It's so badass.
Chels, if I could find a version that didn't make me want to put a bullet in my head, I would post it.
Wendy: I love this song

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 24
Song You Want Played At Your Funeral
After Angelique's funeral, I feel like we all need to make clear what song we want played at our funeral. Just get it out there so people don't have to guess. Or maybe just don't play music at it.
But I settled on this song a long long time ago. Then stupid Inception decided to make it a key part of its plot. So help me God, if people think it's a tribute to Inception, I will come back from the dead and punch faces.
Kent. This is a good funeral song, but I don't think the Catholics are going to like it.
Chelsey. Thanks for the funeral endorsement. I'll make sure "18 and Life" is not played.
Chuck.
Wendy. This song was not a hit in England.

Song You Want to Play at Your Wedding
I'm glad someone asked. I love the songs we picked for our wedding, but if I had the chance for a redo, I would play this song for our dance.
Chuck, thank you for fulfilling your destiny and bringing homoeroticism to the 30 Day Music Challenge
Kent's song. This is in the holy grouping that is Brent's favorite songs.
Wendy's song:

Song You Listen To When You Are Sad
Antlers! This song is about a sick relationship involving a hapless protagonist and his seriously ill wife. The words are very hard to make out. Thank your lucky stars for that.
This is a good album. I had forgotten about it. Thank you Chuck.
Kent's song is impossible to find on You Tube because Bob Dylan hates You Tube. But this is a fine song. We'll try this turkish link:
bob dylan - one more cup of coffee | izlesene.com
Chelsey's song. Easily findable. Thank you Chelsey.
Wendy's song. This is my second favorite Decemberists song. First being "Kingdom of Spain."

Song You Listen To When You Are Happy
Right now it's 149 degrees in Omaha each day with 99.999% humidity. This is the song that I sing to myself to keep my spirits high.
Cults "Go Outside" from Isaiah Seret on Vimeo.
Chuck!
Kent! Yes, Chuck did mention this song, but now I get to put on the Coachella version where he changes the lyrics to include the Foo Fighters show.
Wendy's song. I always thought this song was about me...

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 20
Song That You Listen to When You Are Angry
I can't say I really plug into songs when I am angry. Anger becomes sadness almost immediately for me. But I've always liked the way this song captures a very specific reason for being angry.
Chelsey's song! First repeat of the 30-day music challenge. This was my entry for a song that reminds me of a place.
Chuck's song.
Kent's song. I almost put Wish by Nine Inch Nails on here. Which is kind of industrial...
Wendy. I have spent a lot of time on the Nine Inch Nails wiki page recently. Trent Reznor is kind of a dope.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 19
Song From My Favorite Album
I have two favorite albums, so I'm going to pick the one that is the least likely to be mentioned by someone else: Black Sheep Boy - Okkervil River. Kent and I have spent hours trying to decifer all the themes of this album. It's kind of a mess. This song does a nice job of summing it up.
This is why I picked Black Sheep Boy. I knew AOTS would be represented eventually. Chelsey, way to get in on it early. This song was recorded in one take!
Chuck's entry.
Kent!
Wendy! I had forgotten all about this song, and I would never have known it was called Saints.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 18
A Song You Wish You Heard on the Radio
I never listen to the radio. So why would I care what is being played in it? I guess it would be nice to hear this song. Since I love it so...
Chelsey, here is you video with some nice back story.
Chuck, here you go. I'm not going to say all Sigur Ros sounds the same to me. I'm going to say I am too impatient to stick around long enough to differentiate it.
Kent and Wendy. I'm not reposting yours.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 17
A Song You Here Often on the Radio
I not only hear this song on the radio, I hear it everywhere I go. Which is not a problem. As I mention like once a month on here, I love this song.
Kent's song. Omaha people. Consider yourself lucky I never got an MP3 version of this song.
Chelsey's song. Thank you for letting me pick.
Chuck's song. As soon as I looked up this video I realized I had never seen it before. Now I get to watch it. Thanks Chuck.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 16
Song You Used To Love, That You Now Hate
This one took me longer than any other, and I'm sure I'm missing something, but this song represents the worst of my listening habits when I was in high school. I had this thing for adult contemporary (Sting, Peter Gabriel, etc). I should have been listening to the Clash. Not this crap. But I really loved the earth, and this song had a lot of nature noises in it. Sting at his smuggiest best. Enjoy.
Kent's song. I agree with your assessment of this challenge. That's why it took me so long. I love this song, but I guess I never loved it sincerely - only ironically.
Chuck's song. So far my song is by far the worst.
Wendy's song. And my song was the official worst on the list. Good job, high school Brent.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 15
Life goes on, and so must this dumb list.
A Song That Describes You
This song starts out with the line "I never tried as hard as I could" and goes on to talk about being broke and having problems. There's nothing else you need to know about me.
And Kent's. Very apt.
Chuck's song.
Wendy's song. I feel this way too, Wendy.
Chelsey!

Hiatus
Our 30 day music rundown will be on hiatus until we can respectfully and lovingly say goodbye to our good friend Angelique, who left us on June 24th.
We love you, Angelique. You were a beautiful person and we will miss you so much.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 14
This was just like yesterday's. So I changed it to this companion to an earlier category.
My answer is pretty much anything by Nelly. Everyone but me know all the lyrics to his songs. And they sing them at parties or weddings or whatever. And I just fake my way through it. Especially this song:
Chuck's song. Great pick.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 13
Song That is a Guilty Pleasure
I don't really feel guilty about liking songs because I have such hit-and-miss taste in music. But I was singing this in the shower the other day, and wondering why I knew all the words. Now all of you can learn the lyrics as well.
Chelsey, I had no idea DMB was an accepable way to refer to Dave Mathews Band. I also like this song.
Chuck's pick. Inexcusable.
Kent's patriotic drivel.
Wendy, this entry is like being in a job interview and saying that your biggest weakness is that sometimes you work too hard.
Wendy's redemption. Sort of. I happen to love this song as well.

30 Day Music Challenge - Day 12
The original category made no sense to me, so I am changing it to Band You Used to Hate
I really want to put some Pink Floyd or Steely Dan on here, but I think I have said the most mean things about Bob Dylan. I don't love all Bob Dylan, but I love enough to rescind said hate for sure. I don't know that this video is going to work. But this is my favorite Dylan song. It's not the album version, but it will do.
Chuck's song. My friend John Fallon taught me to love Heart. It was a slow, steady process. But he did it.
Chelsey's song. Coincidentally, I also did not care for Smashing Pumpkins until I heard "Today". And Chelsey, I hate to call you out on this, but you used to hate Lady Gaga. Oh, and Arcade Fire put out a video really similar to this one, except all the kids had fake guns and were in a police state. Arcade Fire and their stupid retread of 90's ideas. I swear.
Wendy's song. You might say she "missed the boat" earlier.
Kent's song. I completely agree about this band, but not the reason. Pink Floyd was always a band that people who were in band were talking about. Frat boys were listening to other crap. This song is one of my favorites by them as well.
